Shrink Lamp

Ready to assemble furniture is ubiquitous in our culture. Much of this furniture is flat packed, reducing costs in transportation and storage as well as in overall packaging. In addition to being an economical choice it gives the consumer the opportunity to take part in the process, making it feel like it's really yours. Shrink Lamp is designed so that the packaging becomes the shade eliminating the need for excessive packaging. By heating the plastic with a hair dryer or other heat source the shade transforms from a flexible sheet into a rigid plastic taking on any number of forms. This unexpected engagement gives the consumer the opportunity to actively participate in the design process.
